I have a 125, tank and stand I got of craigslist.

    Eveything is going well,
but I thought I'd mention the the base of t he stand only supprts the tank on the ends for about 3 inches, and right in the middle for about 3 inches.

It does have the plastic frame, and the bottom had a sticker alerting to tempered glass, and not to drill it. I'm pretty sure that is only the bottom.

Anyone elses factory stand like this?

I thought if I ever built one, I'd have it support the entire edges like my 30 and 55 did years ago.

I don't know the maker, but the tank has a sticker seen from the inside at the top covered my the upper trim.
It has a small anchor and states it was built by MG/CL in March 2005.

I'm thinker the anchor symbol is a trademark of the brand?

    Anyone? TIA

Anyones tank only supported by the frame on the ends and in the center? It's the factory stand I believe.

A picture would be great. I have not seen any that supported just the ends and in the middle either.

Sounds like a stand intended for reptile use. I had a factory reptile stand that was similar to that. They don't expect nearly the weight in that use.

I would say this is not typical for our use at all. I don't know how you could add more bracing in there, but I would look into it for sure. :)

OK, you're starting to scare me now.

I actually think it was made for this fish tank, but it definitley only contacts the bottom trim on the ends, and the center.

It was never a reptile tank.

I was contemplating building a new one myself- the goals of that would be slightly taller, and lightly wider, for viewing and redoing my in the stand, 50g sump.

Petco/petsmart ... any box store really will throw a marineland style fish tank on top of a reptile stand all day long. They don't know the difference. In, fact the only difference in a reptile tank and a fish is the top they put on it (unless it's reef ready)

    I appreciate all this.

I actually think it 'hold water' from an engineering standpoint. It is very sturdy.

This is a project that is no where near the front burner for me now.
Building my storage shed in my yard is on tap for this spring. Already have 95% of the lumber under a tarp beside my house!

However, if and when I decide to rebuild my stand, I'll for sure also make some cut-outs in the top of the glass, or drill holes for an overflow that will get rid of my large, high flow DIY siphon style and change it to gravity only style.

That would be cool. No time you are more likely to build it than now. I wish I had built a stand that I could remove my sump for easier service.
