When I had my ATS going, I saved all of the algae for plant fertilizer. Mix it in a gallon of fresh water and let it "steep" for a few days. Liquid gold, Vinny.

Well heres another picture of foul funkiness.

I am really enjoying this tank for the first time in a long time and much of the credit must go to my new skimmer and the addition of the ATS. I will never run another system without one.

Just wait till you run one with the widely accepted vertical design. It's nuts how much they can pull.

LOL So far I haven't needed the highly accepted design. All I am really looking for is a DT that is clean and softies/clams that thrive.I don't want to "pull" too much.;D
This thing is rediculously easy to clean and free (except lightbulbs)soon even that will be a memory(leds). I have been running this tank for 3 months on electricity(greatly reduced now), and a little salt (one wc in that time). The best part is I get to enjoy the tank again without so much effort.;)

Glad to hear it's working well! I couldn't keep enough turbulence in mine and the plastic was always covered in bubbles. Grew a lot of brown slime, but no algae. Made a design mod and just restarted it. Hope it works as well as yours.
