    Thanks Guys,

ReefCurrents is coming. Grab a few more sticks to fill out with then sit back and watch it grow for a while!

    Hey guys,

I wanted to add a quick note on acrylic tanks. This is my second, but my first is a small 24g I had made for Nicky many years ago. We just recently set it up as a seahorse tank. I managed to scratch it a bit in setup and its old so it had a few minor marks. As an experiment to see how hard cleaning an acrylic is, I got a polisher and gave it a try.

Short answer - very easy and looks great. That still left the question of scratches inside your tank. Well I just got my LifeGuard acrylic cleaning kit and it worked flawlessly.

I really think the complaint about acrylic is wildly overblown. Glass scratches too, its just a lot harder to clean.

I have been so impressed with my first ever acrylic I may never go back to glass again. Just wish they weren't so expensive to buy. Making your own is a great alternative though.

Thanks. The amazing thing is the colors are muted in these pics because the halides aren't on and I'm not using a great camera. I'll get my wife to take some nice shots after the baby comes!

So far, working great. Bit of algae on the bottom that I'm refusing to clean off because its interesting to watch develop. I expect it to follow the path new rock takes and get clean again pretty soon. Its just easier not worrying about the sand and frankly I never even notice its absence.
