I've had a mixed relationship with the DoS, but now that I keep two spare heads around they're excellent. Very rarely a head will crack running at higher speeds but it's cheap and easy to replace.

The lower DoS is the water changer. I do 16 liters a day. That's enough water change that whatever I screw up naturally wanders back into equilibrium.

I've been toying with the idea of getting a couple DOS units along with their wave. With your 16L a day do you do any major changeouts in addition to?

16L is more than enough without any additional water changes.

Bare bottom isn't really a hard and fast choice so much as a realisation I can always add the sand later so why not try it for now. So far I'm liking it though.

I'm seriously thinking about going bare bottom. Not sure if I want to leave the glass bare or use starboard. I thought about painting the underside of the tank white as well.
