you gave $40 euro's for the pair? how old are they?
That spoon pic is a trip. I stare every time I see that.
You dont use an airstone, you use a filter sponge just like this one Filter Sponge and it needs to be already setup and full of good bacteria to help keep the ammonia and nitrites down in the grow out tanks.
I live in the UK so £'s not to sure how old as I bought them of ebay and the guy I bought them off didn't get the info of the LFS but the female is about 30-45mm so don't know if you can tell by the size.
There was a few babies down in the corner of a tank and he couldnt get them out with the net, rather then risking them injury, he got them out with a tablespoon.
You got a long time to go before they will be laying eggs then. Those are just 2 babies somebody put together and called them a pair cause they will eventually pair up. 25mm=1.5", They typically dont start spawning untill they are mature which is around 3"s or 7.5cm. (I think my convertion on the measurments is correct)
I take that back, 25mm=1"
So what is the time scale from juvilles to adults 3 6 9 months or longer?
They typically start breeding around a year and a half. Yours are probally 3-6 months old.
The pair Ive had for a year now is about 2.5"s and they were about 1" when I got them and they were about 2-3 months old when I got them.
