Just thought I'd throw up some pics of my DIY LED's

These each use a 100w 20'000k multichip led mounted to a CPU cooler, and each fixture including LED, cooler, and driver cost a total of $64. That's less than the cost of a single good MH bulb.

250w MH running on right side of tank, 100w LED running in center(left side of picture)

All three hung and running over tank

Looks very nice, im curious to see how they work over time, you could easily just use those for primary light and add a strip of colored leds to supplement from rapid.

Everything was ordered on Ebay, came over on the slow boat from China.

The Rocketfish coolers go for fairly cheap all over Ebay, I got mine for $11 each

The LED's, You can contact him and special order in color temps other than what's listed. I got mine in 20'000k and they are a crisp white with a tint of blue, about like a phoenix mh.

    The drivers.

I can't wait either, the tank is a fresh build so not much in it yet.

That's the plan, I'm going to be ordering some Royal blue's to go around each of them. I'm also going to order some lenses for the multichips to give them a bit more punch at the bottom.

Should be nice, maybe consider adding some more colors in addition to the Royal blues.

UV, Cyan, Red? just a thought

I imagine he could get them for you, just have to send him a message. The 100w's would be extreme overkill for a fuge though. You'd probably be good to go with a 20w multichip. The lenses can be found all over Ebay.

Yeah, I'll probably mix some red and cyan in with them, still not sure on the uv's though, the jury is still out on them.
