    They are metal, as for moon lights I got the R2 solutions moonlights and attached them to the back edge (the part that angels back slightly) and just angeled them towards the front. They provide a nice blue without it being too intense.

    Oh, that sounds like a very good idea. I will check out my fixture today and see if I think I can do that. Those R2 ones are the ones that I thought looked good. Glad to know you enjoy them!

    That's a good idea hanging them from a shelf. I just had my living room painted though, so I don't know if I want to put up a shelf! That was very creative of you.

    why dont you just add a powerbrite led strip, if i recall correctly they are waterproof(not fully positive on that one) so u can just have it at the top back edge of the tank and from all i have heard the 50/50 creates a metal halide like shimmer in the water.

    seems worth the 40 bucks, def. worth looking into i saw them on dr.fosterandsmith's website

    lol we actually had a chinchilla, acted like a dog, most social thing on the planet, it PLAYED with the dogs. it was soo silly.
