    its a 29 gallon tank and i have 1750 gallons per hour. turnover of about 60 times an hour. With all the rock in my tank i bet i have more like 20 gallons of actual water?

    That is a ton of flow for montis. Try moving it to a lower flow area and see what happens. Bet you get better extension.

    You need to run some GAC (carbon) in there since you want an sps coral in a nano tank with a mixed reef. Regular water changes is a must, not an option in this case. With that, I mean 10% 2 times a week is ideal but 10% weekly is much better than anything else. I would imagine that you alk is also increasing due to the organics building up.
