    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    As Daniel posted sometimes when you add filtration media such as Charcoal or Purigen you remove DOC so quickly that the corals do not have time to adapt to the change in lighting intensity and they bleach.

    It does sound like the lighting intensity is an issue. Your mg does seem a little low, I'm sure that's not responsible for the rapid change you've observed but thought I'd mention
