    Make sure you order some 35ppt calibration fluid! You can't trust calibrating to RO/DI.

    It comes with the refractometer. That for the heads up marshall o. How often do i have to calibrate it?

    Unless I am comparing the salinity from one tank to another (I see what the LFS water is compared to mine whenever I bring home anything) I calibrate (or at least verify it is reading 35ppt) every time. A small bottle will last quite a while so there is no reason not to IMO ;)

    I've been using ddh20 and going to switch to regular IO. The way I've been doing this is to have a little less than 5 gallons (to have some room to add more if needed) and dump in 2 3/4 cups (give or take) of salt. After 24 hours, sometimes I'm right on and if not, usually a little higher. I rather have a slightly higher SG, because it is easier to dilute than to add some more salt and have to wait again.
