3/4 scares me! I tested with 3/4 and had numerous failed attempts with higher GPH. 1 inch was able to keep up with my return pump.

It just seems weird. It seems weird that it can restart a siphon with no pump or anything.... However i just though that since i have a RKL controller i might be able to tie my return pump to a float switch in the event that I am returning too much water.

How many GPH do you need to run threw this overflow?

well i have a 40 gallon display and likely a 20 gallon sump. So im thinking isnt about 400 to 500 gph good? Or should it be less?

That sounds like it would be good for a 40 gallon tank.

Hey Biocube I just wanted to update you and Ashvillian on the latest with my overflow. After 9 months of constant running I finally noticed a slight slow down in flow a few hours after a power outage here. I noticed that the overflow was slightly slower than the return pump and over the course of 6 hours the water level was about 1 inch above the overflow inlet tube. I gave the breather upright tube a few sucks to try to re prime or clear and debris. And it is back to flowing like a champ, I picked the overflow up a few times to get the water level high and dropped the overflow back in and it caught up to the correct level quickly. So just some more knowledge to throw your way, keep a eye on her.

    Thanks! :)

I have my ball valve closed at 75% to keep noise down, haven't had any issues so far.

I'll keep an eye out for any change in flow.

Quick update, everything is working great! About every 3 week I open the ball valve fully to flush out debris left behind.

Looks really clean, hows the JBJ ATO working for ya? that's the next item on my list, along with a 4stage RODI unit. I'm so sick and tired of lifting heavy buckets of water!
