Brine have been proven to have low nutritional value. There are factors like age of brine, source, quality of eggs, ect. But they are low in nutrition in comparison to just about any other food. If you soak all your brine it could pack some nutrients back into them. But not everyone does that. I had a dragonette who ate brine like crazy. But after a couple months he was still eating well, but emaciated and passed away. It happens all too often. IMO mandarins simply should not be put in a small tank.

No problem! I was just at petco and it looks like this project would only cost like 35$ since I'm not doing baffled and already have a rio 600. I just need a 5g tank and PVC. I have a few questions though...

    1. How do you seal the PVC together?

    2. How much does all the PVC cost?

    3. Could I use PVC for the return? What did you use?

    4. Would a rio 600 be ok for a return? It's 425gph I think.

    Sorry!:p

The pump would be plenty, I use stock BC hqi pump. You seal it with pvc cement, I dont remember how much I spent on pvc it was a long time ago. And yes you could use pvc for the return but it would probably require a bit more work and cutting of the back cover.

yes for the return and actually probably for most of the overflow as well. it would allow for more flexibility. but you'd have to make the main part from the PVC, which is really cheap at Lowes, and you use PVC glue
