    hello fellow reefers,
I have a 75gal. salt water reef tank with assorted inverts, some green Montipora Digitata, two green and one pink Trachyphyllia Geoffroyi(open brain)and a Galaxea Fascicularis(Galaxy coral).. Of course, no reef would be complete without, mushrooms, brown star polyps and assorted zooanthids.
Right now im running my tank on power compacts.(two 96 watt 10,000k, and two 96 watt actinic and two 55 watt 50/50). Hopefully someone could give me an answer as to how much it would cost to switch over to halide lights(strip lights with the moon light and the actinic pc, not pendants)? Where I could get the light at the cheapest price? Also, how strong a light would I need to make the colors of my Montipora become more brilliant and allow me to keep acroporas, other sps'3s and Maxima clams?
    thanks,
    T

Ouch. Is that cheap KB? I thot he meant CHEAP. Go to ebay and look. I bought mine used so I can't really give u a lot of info on pricing elsewhere. I got 2 175W MH + 2 96W PC pendant for $250 used from a local, except it needed new PC bulbs. No moonlights but they're cheap for DIY ($25). Most people like the "shimmering" effect of the MH. Me ......I don't like the color much, but the shimmering is neat. And I have to admit the ugly algae growth seems to quiet somewhat with 10K MH + actinic PC's. Happy hunting.;)

The prices I gave were new and ball park When it comes to Salt water Equipment I will not purchase any electrical stuff used, because I don’t know If any of the electrical components have been infiltrated by the salt creep and would hate to burn down my house
