Use the calculators to find out how to get to where you need to be. Also, find a volume calculator to find out how much actuall water you have in your system. I have 90g and a 60g sump/fuge.... but after figuring actual water levels and live rock and sand, I have a total water volume of 110g. That is the number I use for all my calculations. You may have 45, or you may have 35. But it does matter.

Also why would the calculator say it will take 700ml of additive but after doing the calculations on the bottle it sounds more like 175ml? If 40ml raises 16ppm and i need a 70ppm jump then 16 goes into 70=4.38(DAYS) times. 4.38daysX40ppm=175ML
That seem odd to anyone else?

off my bottle of esv--1 ml.per gallon of aquarium water will raise calcium concentration by 16 ppm. 1 tablespoon is 5 ml. In a 40 gallon tank I would only put in 2 or 3 tablespoons. I use 2 tablespoons every other day in my 29 biocube.I used 4 to bring it up from 360 to 400. Someones calculator made a mistake or the values input wrong.please dont put in 700 ml in a 40 gal tank!!

The calculations on the bottle should be for a set amount of gallons. Most likely much smaller than your tank. That would make a difference, I assume.

The calculators are pretty accurate, with the perspective products, but ya, I might not have used the right one.

So your calculation of 175 ml are right going by direction. So adding 10 ml per day is not doing anything to raise it, just consumption. You want to raise only 70 ppm...so 50 a day is no big deal....so do it over 3 days.... 58 ml per day.

If it doesnt raise or lower your tank is useing that amount per day and you will want to double that to raise it and check it.Once you get it where you want it you drop back to 10 ml per day as daily maint. to keep it there.

58 ml is about 12 teaspoons.to much for a 40 gal tank.5-6 teaspoons then check next day and see if you have to put that amount in again.

A table spoon is 14 ml. 58 ml is 4 tablespoons. I don't know the product personally, but the numbers are the numbers. Raising Calcium 23 ppm a day is nothing. 58 ml/day will raise 40g 23 ppm.
