Hi All: I need some advice on what to do with my DSB (about 3 inches) in my refugium. It has some cheato in there (that is not growing btw) and some cyano on the top of the bed. I put a Mexican turbo in there and he's working on the cyano. I've been reading about DSB and am thinking I may not want one now that I have it set up (oh the perils of reading in this hobby) - if I keep it, should I turn it into a shallower sand bed or should I attempt to vacuum it during water changes? If I was to remove it, what steps would you recommend? Slowly taking out small amounts at a time? I don't think it's aged enough (just set up at the end of November) to be of substantial danger in terms of build up thus the reason I want to make a plan now.

For those of you that keep a DSB in your refugium, what maintenance do you do on it?
