    Just something I looked up ;) ::)

    Epsom salts, common name for magnesium sulfate heptahydrate, MgSO4•7H2O, a water-soluble bitter-tasting compound that occurs as white or colorless needle-shaped crystals. It was first prepared from the waters of mineral springs at Epsom, England; it also occurs as the mineral epsomite. Epsom salts is used medicinally as a purgative; it is also used in leather tanning, mordant dyeing, and as a filler in cotton goods and paper.

    No worries John :)

    I'm always a bit sceptical about Mag additives as I think a lot of them are just Epsom Salts anyway.

    I remember buying some buffer once and it turned out to be just Baking Soda.

    Well, epsom salts or not, I got some SeaChem Reef Advantage Magnesium suppliment. The instructions seem a bit easier to digest than the info I've found online thus far.

    On the mag calculator, it doesn't seem to work with Mozilla Firefox, and I suspect that Netscape may be about the same. Works fine with Internut Exploder though. ::)

    i now know why my calcium wouldn't go up, even when i added liquid cal every day. My mag. is 810 ppm. I'm thinking of using epson salt to raise it. How much would i add and how fast will it return to normal. how does mag go down in a tank.
