    Hi All,

I have these really gross looking things in my tank I'm hoping you can identify. They look like little maggots or grubs. I've only seen dead ones floating at the surface of the water...well, I think they are dead. They are two colors; half like a copper color and the other half a yellow/gold. And they are shiny.

Hopefully someone knows what they are - they totally gross me out!!

Catch them, put them in a petri dish (or a dish of some sort...)
Get your camera, and try to put a magnifying glass infront of the lens.

they dont sound like pods but googe image copepod, isopods, amphipod, mysis shrimp. see if any of those match the appearance. best to take a pic. pull out the creatures and put them on some sort of white dish, set your camera to macro mode w/ out flash and shoot.

Thanks! That's me and my lil' girl CoCo on the Oregon Coast. The picture is too small to see it, but she has a huuuuge smile on her face! :)

Okay, thanks for the tips. If the filter hasn't sucked them out yet, I'll definitely get them out today and try to get a picture. Ewww...I was hoping to get away with not touching them!! ;)

I never heard of anythingike this being at the surface. I've seen maggot looking things on the glass of a tank.. Pretty sure it's some sort of pod fry.

Maybe your tank is infested with sea spiders... Just kidding, trying gross u out
    some more :)
