What do you suggest is a good manageable macro that will help with bio filtration? I will be growing it under metal halide 'til it gets big enough to use the fuge. I killed the chaeto I got from you with my CUC.

Something you have in stock right now.;D

gracilaria and halimeda will work. The halimeda can take whatever light you can throw at it, the gracilaria might like some distance from the halide.

So, I did alright with my order? I almost ordered a couple of mangroves thinking they would fit nicely next to the skimmer in my fuge and catch light overspill. Bagged that though. Haven't done any research on keeping them yet.

Can mangroves live under 24 hours of lighting? Are they a plant that requires sleep to process light/sugars?

the Calvin cycle will go non-stop - whether the lights are on or not. Black mangroves take well to 24 hour lighting, red mangroves do not respond as well. It may not kill them, but it seems to stunt their growth. I haven't tried it in many systems, so there isn't a control that I tested it against or anything, but I am more green thumb than biology anyway....(it is a hobby after all - :) ) For reds I would do a normal cycle, and for blacks I wouldn't consider their needs really and design around whatever else is in there. By the way, what else is in there?
