Problem for me is I don't have space for a fuge. Display tank only with tangs.

Halymenia spp. macroalgae grows fast and is beautiful. Also known as "Dragon's Breath" and "red sea lettuce" in some LFS's .

Halophila ovalis seagrass also grows quickly and looks nice, but requires a DSB.

Halymeda spp. calcarious algaes grow very quickly, but require good maintanence of calcium and alkalinity. This species will die if Ca/Alk are not well controlled.

Neomeris spp. is cool, but doesn't grow fast. It doesn't get eaten by my snails either.

Gracilaria spp. vary a lot in looks, but certain species (not sure of the one I have!) look great, grow fast and do not get eaten by snails.

The other species I have I believe is Griffithsia. It looks like a bunch of tiny, interconnect red balloons. I have found it does get eaten by snails occasionally. It is one of my favorites though... it looks like a gorgonian (well almost).

I would avoid Dichotomaria spp. as I found my herbivorous snails devoured it within days. Clearly it is very palatable.

I have tried Padina a couple of times, but it never survived.

disagree here whole heatedly. Calurpa ruins a tank and after a transfer I needed weekly manual removal WITH 3 good sized tangs. The stuff is a menace.
