    I need help with stocking this tank with fish, here are the criteria;

    DO's
    - Do want a schooling fish.(not absolutely neccesary)
    - Do want small I am looking to get about 7(less than inch full grown-again i am flexible on this)
    - Do want nice to look at but not overboard flashy.
    - Do want peaceful/ will swim through plants and chill in the plants as opposed to avoid them completely.
    - Do want them to be a relatively common fish that a lfs would have in stock.( want to avoid ordering in)

    Dont's
    - Dont want swordtails,mollys,guppies

    And there you have it. Again I am flexible on some of these points to a certain extent. I trust the gurus will help me out.
    Thanks for reading.

    ya, im really enjoying it. im going for fish tonite and possibly a plant or 2. so i need to know what will be a good fit based on my criteria. If this tank does well i may buy a grow out tank and sell plants lol i dunno. just a thought.

    Cool thanks for the suggestion. and otto. ,is that a species name or an individual fishes name?

    i had a spike were i went mental in the hobby and got sevral small tanks (mainly for the use as a sump....that i no longer own...) so i did the best thing a dude could do...recycled....

    first pic is my 40 l planted betta tank (shame on all of you who keep bettas in less than 15 l)

    second is my old saltwater tank reconverted to a planted discus (shame on me for keeping 3 in a 180 l tank....but i cant help it)

    going back on your question and keeping in mind im more of saltwater dude than fresh water i would suggest the betta (very very very hardy fish) or if you really want schooling fish in small volumes then +1 on the neon tetras, easy and cheap.

    Ember tetras and Celestial Rasboras come to mind as one that might be found in a LFS.
