Mangroves are nice to have and they will soak up allot of the free floating Phosphates in a system. But they have their bad side, and that is I wouldn't recommend using them in a Acrylic tank or fuge and even some glass ones because the roots can push their way right into a seam and cause it to leak. They bust up concrete sea walls in Florida all the time. I put mine in plastic pots that have no holes in the bottom to contain the roots. In the summer I put them in my pond but there I have them floating.

Im glad you asked. To be very honest, I have about 12 mangroves with leaves and roots and another 4 without and I dont see a damn difference. Well, you saw my video. My No3 are still at 20ppm. I dont know if I did it wrong, but this refugium hasnt helped me in anyway, so far. I thought it would have at least stablized my ph and lowered my No3 by now and its like having nothing. Maybe its too soon to show any positive results.:-/ Only time will tell. Luna

P.S. Its been now 3-4 weeks running.
