lost hydrometer

did a water change tonight and as i was going to my bag of tricks to get the hydrometer out to test my water it was gone.I have looked high and low and cant find it anywere.Is there a way to tell if my salinity is of without because my coral is not looking pretty at all and now i am too late to go buy one for the nearest store is three cities away from me.I just guessed on the amount of salt and i have no clue if there is too much or too little. and on another note my hammer coral and kena tree have these hairs flowing from it.dont know what they are
