looking for a light for a reef tank

    I'd go IMO would go to Rapid LED and go the solder less route and its pretty easy to DIY.

    How tall is your tank? I wouldn't go for the 1w LED if you have a tank that is taller than 18". and agree to Reef Breeder, $400+ can give you lots options. DIY is a way to go and if you are like me that not good at fitting the light into a canopy, then I would search around those Chinese brand LED which comes with a complete casing for the light, some of them even give you some cool functionality as well. I think for $400. I can get enough to lite a 60g-80g tank

    Whether you buy a fixture or go DIY, modularity/expandability should be a consideration, IMO. It'll be worth spending a few extra bucks now so you can transfer your lights to your new tank when the inevitable urge to upgrade hits.
