Well I think you would be better off doing some water tests rather than just relying on timing
i know but if its not cycled yet will that kill my LR while it's curing
I've suffered enough
Over to someone else please
what do u mean i'm asking a legimate question.
Howdy Hottie: I am cycling my tank right now with so called precured LR. I dont see how puting your LR in a tank that has not cycled yet and let the tank cycle while your LR is curing. But listen to Jhono he knows better than I ...I am brand new at this. I would test the water to see what you have and put the rock in and let things work themselves out . Just change water 50% every 4 or 5 days till your water is correct. then add the rock to your display tank. Might take as long as 3-4 weeks depending on your rock condition now. You wont hurt the rock.
But I am too new to be giving advise as I am still cycling my first tank....but I can read and learn.
Hope I helped
but won't the ammonia and nitrite spikes kill the living things on the LR.
No, The amonia and Nitrites are gonna spike big time as the rest of the stuff on the rock that is going to die as result shipping rotts and falls off the rock. Even socalled precured rock will have dieoff from shipping...and this dieoff will cause amonia and everything else to spike...sooooo Its gonna spike where ever you cure the rock. In a quaranteen tank or a garbage can.
Hope I helped you
ok thanks but after the ammonia and nitrite spikes are over with and it's cured will a lot of live animals still be on it.
John...checkout the tank I picked up today. The pic is in my online album. Only paid 350 bucks. Got plans for this one. Its gonna rock.....need more LR now. My plastic is still warm from the last two weeks.
