    I know it has been months since you posted this but I am curious as to whether or not you bought LR from Petco and how it worked out for you.

    well, i just moved cross country with the Coast Guard, and i was about to set up my tank, and buy a few pieces of LR from PETCO to seed my 75 pounds of base rock with, and i got deployed for the oil spill. When i return from that tragedy, i will let you know how it goes.

    digging up a thread from 2010?

    but on topic, my petco has the worst live rock ive seen, cyano..gha...byropsis. its horrible.

    LOL...grave robber! but to go along with the thread.

    my local petco has rock (cured FIJI) but it looks like a brick. Super dense and no nooks or crannies. all priced by the piece. couple days ago, my buddy said petco got in some "tonga" rock. i tried to go down there(i was in the area), but didnt see it. Either he was wrong or it sold ASAP. was really curious what petco was slinging!!

    last week I talked to the guy who owns reefrocks.net and he told me that petcos new live rock comes from him. he advised to ask when its delivered and pick it up same day to avoid it getting contaminated by petco lol. I have seen it and its pretty good looking. price was okay too

    Im sure u have. Anyone can have bad rock, but my local petco takes the cake for algae invested rock.
