    All you have to do is spear them and then use a pair a scisors to cut of the three fins and prepare it like anyother fish.

    +1 Once the spines are cut off this fish is quite safe. The cleaning of them is not difficult at all. Glad to see Matt posting this as Lionfish are a huge problem here. I myself have killed alot of these fish on and around my local reef and in the Keys. It is a beautiful white meat that is a little like grouper. Darn it now I am hungry.;)

    @Matt-Cleaning them is really easy. Only the spines are poisonous. Once removed with a pair of pliers, they are as safe to eat as any other fish.

    @Majestic- You are thinking of Fugu.

    I know I could Google this, but isn't it poisonous if you are eating them rather than being stung by it? I always thought venomous had to do with stinging and biting and poison was something ingested.
