You should confirm those inexpensive MH fixtures contain electronic ballasts.

i doubt this is true. is this deal worth me trying to put in custom fans? still awaiting ballast answer

Unit has electronnic T5 ballast and electromagnetic metal halide ballast.

Unit comes with a complete 2 year warranty + satisfaction guaranteed or your money back
    policy.

    great unit!

the first one i listed had 2 250 watts 48" Metal Halide Aquarium Reef Lighting 500W HQI NEW - eBay (item 300246803456 end time Aug-04-08 15:06:57 PDT)
sorry the next one was the one with 150 halides(sorry about that didn't read close enough). then the next one that wasn't a 48' becuase i wasn't trying to get you to buy those i was just giving you a site to compare to the prices on ebay. and i don't considered the extra t5 or pcs that important, if you get the proper halide bulb you don't need to supplement with t5s.

    not a great unit.

electromagnetic=magnetic ballast for the halide. NOT GOOD. These are old, cheap type ballasts. They produce flicker in the light, vibration which are noisy, and produce a lot more heat than electronic ballasts. Stay away!
