Are you setting up a reef or fish only tank?

You really can't have too much circulation so your Aqua Clear 500 will be fine 24/7.

What other equipment are you planning? Powerheads, skimmer, etc.?

Click on the link below and go to Protein Skimmers and hit next to get to the SeaClone 150. I have one and you won't be disappointed in it's value.  It will give you room to grow to a 75 - 80 gallon tank as well.

Go to Powerheads and you will find the Aqua Clear 800. I am using as well one 800 will be plenty.

With the Aqua Clear 500 you are really set and can grow with little or no cost to upgrade.

    What heater are you using?

What lights do you have? Your photo period should be 10 - 12 hours per day.

I would get a 300 watt heater and the power head as you wait for your tank to cycle with LR for the next two months. You will want to keep your water between 78 - 80 degrees and the 300 watt heater will last longer. You can use the same link above to check them out.

I would start saving for the skimmer as you won't need it for the next two or three months, but will want to get it up and running when you start adding fish. Not really necessary for your clean-up crew IMO.
