    I wouldnt be worried so much about the splash guard for the lights as I would for the intent of keeping fish in. Youll have the lights more than a couple of inches off the water surface & that will reduce alot of the splash.

    Just ran and measured my lights, they are 5" give or take 1/8" and I run no guard. And my lights are DIY, if yours are water proof I wouldn't worry at all. Just give them a wipe now and again.

    Sounds great, thanks you guys! I will take them off my freshwater and saltwater tanks when I get the chance. They really do cover up a lot of light that goes into the tank. Especially if we're talking about really really old light covers for a fresh planted tank (which is one thing I've got goin ojn right now lol)
