What type of lighting do you need to sustain live coral. I have a 30gallons with tank florescents but im getting tired of looking at live rock. What kind of brands do you recommend.

if you just want softies you could go PC but that really limits you
I would recomend a T5 lighting set up
or you could go with a MH and you could keep just about everything

there are lots of lights that will sustain corals. the question really is what kind of coral do you want to keep as that will dictate what type of lights we recommend.

Do you want to sustain corals or do you want them to thrive and grow? PCs will sustain some soft corals but they will not thrive. I upgraded to 6x54W T5s from 4x65W PCs. The difference is huge.

Check this thread for some before and after pictures of my Colt soft coral.
