I have an Aquatronica controller, giving me constant readings about my Ph (8.2) and water density... do you guys know what the water density reading means? Otherwise just started the cycle about 3 weeks ago and waiting for another 3 weeks to add livestock. But I MUST get another test kit to check on the amonia and nitrates...

Question: my aquatrionica controller keeps displaying the water density. How important is that and what should be the parameters?

My tank is relativly new being at 3 months. The chemistry is never the same. Seems like it wants to balance out. I am trying to get the Live Rock to handle the Bio Load. I have 85lbs in a 55G tank but have been running an Ext. Canister Filter since it started. I tried leaving the filter off for a day and measured the chemistry and this is what I got. I have a Picasso Trigger, Clown Trigger, B&W Clownfish and Blue Damsel.

    Temp: 75.5F
    Spec Grav: 1.023-1.024
    Ph: 8.4
    Nitrite: 0.25 mg/L
<~ haven't seen itt above 0 since a month ago
    Nitrate: 40 mg/L
    Ammonia: 0 mg/L
    Phosphate: 2.0 mg/L
<~ was using chemicals to remove. Not anymore

I don't measure Alk or anything else... question is should I?
