I made the design like one I purchased for my 60 gallon tank when I had it. I just adjusted the dimensions for having a 40 breeder sump and made it about 6 inches taller.

The design has the front with full length pieces, the sides are just a solid pieces, the back pieces fit inside the the side panels instead of on the outside. It was surprisingly solid with just the base done. After adding the inside floor I knew it was going to be far more solid than it looks.

I'm trying the latex kind, hope it works.::)

Thanks, wasn't a lot of thinking when I remembered how solid my other stand is, just a little studying and adding a little safety margin.

The stand should look a little like an Oreo cookie when it is painted.

    Tank and stand painted

I completed painting the stand and back of tank last night.

I still need to build my canopy, come up with doors for the stand and install the plumbing.

I will probably go to Habitat for Humanity to get the doors and any hinges I need.

    Stand completed?

I bought some doors from Habitat for Humanity today and installed them. I will need to get some kind of closers for them. I am strongly leaning to magnetic catches.

I really like the look for now.
Cheers and jeers with reasons will be appreciated.

Well I just got caught up on this thread and its looking great. I'm going to be working on my own build here in the near future. Looking great, I would be a little on edge too drilling holes in a glass tank. :-/ Everything looks great the stand has nice large doors and I like how you mentioned how the middle support is easily removable too. ;D

    Sweet looking reef.

I see what you mean. Looks like lose your storage area or no sump. I will look online to see what the whole setup looks like, maybe something will come to me.
