Just a quick update. My rigged regulator job did NOT work lol drained my whole 10 lb tank in about a week.

But!...a new regulator/solenoid is on the way along with a legit diffuser (also had one of those rigged up..)

Since I stopped running the CO2 I've gotten a pretty bad case of string algae. Nasty nasty stuff. I'm confident that with some CO2 and flourish excel I will get it back under control though.

Holy-Moly irr, first that 'fake' Pike you're holding in your Avatar & now this awesome planted tank!! At first I thought it was a terrarium in your first pictures! You're a stud irr. Now I'm very jealous. The years are creeping up on me. 8)

Don't know much about FW...for goldfish maybe, but I'm trying to get a little 20g together for my Godson (12yo). I'm using lights, AquaClear 30 from a SW tank. I think I'll use some ideas from your tank too. What is that last fishy in the last-last pic?

That would be a Pearl Gourami.

Yep. Pearl Gourami. They're pretty easy. I haven't managed to kill one yet at least. A pair would be fine in a 20 gallon.

You have to do some work to kill them, pretty hardy fish that can live for about 8 years.

CO2 is finally up and running again! Got a new regulator/solenoid (one that actually cuts off the flow....) and a diffuser. I think I may get a drop checker next..we'll see. Also started with flourish excel. All my stringy algae is turning brown!! All of the leaves are starting to regain their rich green color again, too. I can't wait to see what the tank looks like in a couple more weeks.

Congrats on the improvements and the improvement in the tank.
