There is good news today. The flesh of the mantle has stopped sloughing. I am surprised. It still looks rough and 2/3 still has no extension but it responds to shadow when the fish swim over it. Perhaps it will recover!!!! I have more hope.

That's great news. Being that it's responsive to shadows I believe it's chances are good. The mantle might look a little rough but it's a good battle scar and all the girl clams will think it's sexy. Lol

Today's update. Clam looks about the same, but that is good! I am wondering if he is gaping too much (see bottom of the picture)

Just for yucks, here's my giant elegance that bit him. Wish my iPhone camera took better pictures under LED.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I have seen acclimating clams showing worse gaping. The fact that the clam is still alive is a good sign. I have been stung by nematocyst before from corals, it hurts and does not resolve within a day or two, the clam is not toast yet.

    Lovely Elegance Coral.

Still pulling for the clam. ;)

That gaping doesn't look bad at all. I wouldn't even say it looks gaping to me. I'm partly colorblind though and moon LED mess with me sometimes.
Glad still alive!! That's a great sign for Jane

Love the photo bombing fire shrimp!
My next clam will be a derasa (if Jane pulls through).
