From these pics I have a favia about 5 inches under and to the right of the monti and I see a few little spots on the Monti. I have seen the tentacles of the favia at night. They can be about 5 inches long. Can it damage the Monti long term if he is stinging him? I really have no other place for the favia. I would have to get the Monti up higher somehow maybe with the purple reef glue.

Yep, appears you've got a turf battle going on. Stretching that far, seems apparent to me the favia is making an active attempt to attack it. It will probably only do localized damage to the monti, but I'd make an effort to move one or the other.

I ran into the same problem with a bali slimer next to my monti... I moved the slimer with the advice from tangster and it started to recover right away....
