I've read that when they aren't getting enough light they will stretch to get more light, mine seems to be stretching. Thanks for looking...

Hey nightser, what type of lighting again?

Looks like a healthy clam, really boarder line possible over extension. It is anyway slightly shaded? Can you move it into an area more directly under the lighting?

The clam has a nice new growth line to the shell.

IMO it does not look unhealthy in any way. It might be a tad over extended, but the amount the clam opens varies a lot in different clams. What type of lighting are you using? Looks good to me though! :)
    Good Luck

Its a 36" wavepoint 4 bulb t5 with UVL bulbs. I think my bulb combo is a 454, super actinic, actinic white, and I can't remember the last one...

Than I would not worry if it was my clam. I have noticed also that sometimes if the flow is in a certain position they expand more as well.

It is probably farther away from the lighting than in the last tank, might just still be acclimating as well.

the more the clam expands the happier the clam is, two reasons - one, the bigger he gets the more light and water he can also draw - this also allows for the shell to grow. and I guess he feels secure- many clams are very very touchy concerning everything in their enviroment- even my shadow causes my clams to react.
