Is my bulb dead????

    Hi all I need an quick answer today my MH bulb didnt go on. Does it mean the bulb burned down how long do they last? My was 250W 5500K I had it for 9 months Is it possible the ballast broke?. O and if I order a new bulb online will my corals survive without light for couple of days? :huh: :huh:

    Hard to say, did you try a different outlet? I am wondering if it's a bad ground. If they are not grounded they won't turn on. At least the ones I have had.

    Maybe the bulb, if so, I'd recommend getting a higher kelvin bulb.

    My second MH is 20000K should I get another 20000 or 10000K

    I'd probably get another 20k to even out the light.
    So any details on the ballast or things leading up to the thing going out you would like to share?

    see the thing is that today morning the bulb just didn't turn on and when I took it out I noticed there is a loose part in there you know the little steel wires inside the bulb I mean the pare is connected but when I shake the bulb its loose

    Definitely sounds like the bulb is out.

    Ok now the real question How long can I go without a bulb on one side
    ( :( thats where all my corals are :( )

    I think they should be fine for a few days.. can you flip the hood around?
