    Is it fairly hard and kind of a pea shaped thing when you first see it?

    It looks like Valonia to me (bubble algae). If it is it can spread fairly rapidly but is easy to get rid of as long as you stay at it. The pods can be removed in clumps with your fingers. Try not to break them because they will release their spores and can spread. Your skimmer will probably remove most of the spores though. I had some on some rock I got from FL. and just pulled it out and have not seen it since.

    If it is not Valonia I'll and others will look around and see what I can find out about the stuff.

    i dont think this is bubble algae. i have had that. this is a solid type of whatever it is
