Jeezus .. I just got the Regal tang,:( and he is already scratching himself against rocks and sandbed.

I haven't seen any white spots yet, but he is developing spots where he scratches himself.

Gonna have to get a quarantine tank this week.

I think you are going way too fast. You just set-up the tank 4 weeks ago and you already have all the livestock in your sig? The tank should only be about halfway through the cycle period by now.

When the nitrogen cycle is done. You really can't put a timeline on it. You need to pay close attention to the parameters.

From everything I'm reading on the internet the cycle is done after ammonia rises and falls then nitrites rise and fall to 0 ... then they are saying it's ready for fish?

Your nitrates will then spike. At peak you will do a water change. Then IMO watch nitrates to see any kind of trend. Incline/decline etc. Plan on how you are going to get them down to a manageable #.

Almost every article I can find on the internet says after the nitrites go to 0 the cycle is considered complete and ready for fish. Approximately 30 days.
    Aquarium cycling information.

I think you are confused maybe? Nitrites are only one part of the cycle, and they are not the final part. Those are then converted to nitrates. Those are then converted to gas which then leaves your tank. I was assuming your tank thread is accurate and you first filled it up using dry sand and base rock 31 days ago?. JMHO 31 days from dry tank to nearly fully stocked reef is way to fast.
