if i do it's not much yet, it's at the top of the sandbed, the spots where i think i have cyano is where the sand is touching the glass. It's kind of a dark color, like a black/dark purple but hard to say. Not sure if it's cyano or i just need to move around the sandbed. I would take pics but my camera is dead and no batteries.

If it's just in one spot, try scooping it out.

it's in a few places, but only on the top that's pressed up against the glass, it''s on the front of the tank and on the side, i don't have anything that moves around the sand so it could just be build up. But if it is cyano i don't want to disturb it and make it spread even more

Don't worry, if it is cyno, it does a good enough job of that on its own. The best way to combat cyno is to keep what you put into the tank to a minimal, cut back on feedings, don't dose invert or filter feeder food. Clean you filters or sponges. If you can, run a phosphate remover and when you do water changes, siphon out as much as you can. I have had cyno for as long as my tank has been up. I have it under control though. It's minimal now. I have added a refugium with chaeto, am running a phosphate reactor and increased my flow. I also siphon whatever I can out when I do water changes.
