    This Q has to do with PH. Keep in mind that my PH is usually between 7.7-7.8(night) and 7.8-8.0(day). There where two occasions last week that I had the opportunity to open up the house. Both times, my PH shot up to almost 8.3 in no time. I understand why and how this ocurred, thats not the issue. I placed an air pump outside 2 days ago and ran the tubes inside the house and into my sump with an air stone. Now, my Q is, why is my PH still at 7.92(day) and not hitting the 8.3 mark when the house was open? Am I doing something wrong? Do I have the right idea, just not installing it correctly? I must admit that I am at a loss.:-/ Luna

    BTW, My numbers are as follows;

    Hey buddy, I dont see how that would make a difference. If your reffering to a CA reactor, No. Luna

    The only "reactor" that I have is a Phos reactor, but with A.R.M. media in it. Sorry, I over looked that. Luna

    What kind of pump did you use. The cheapest one on the shelf or, a fairly decent one? The reason I ask is because it may not be sufficient enough. And another thought is how long is the airline tubing that runs to the outside?

    When you open the house your exposing the whole water surface to fresh air, with an air pump only the water that comes in contact with the bubbles has a chance to absorb oxygen. Also with a lower concentration of carbon dioxide in the air the dissolved CO2 in the water can more easily come to an equilibrium with the surrounding air.
    Hope that made since.
    You can try connecting it to the air intake to your skimmer, this will generally pull more air than an air pump and creates more surface contact
