    i kinda feel the same way, they r too blue imo.

    yeah thats what im saying...do you have any idea what wattage, and which is best 10K 14K or 20K?

    depends on what look u like, 20k is very blue. for a small tank like that 125 watt would be fine if not 75 watts.

    ok ill see what the LFS has got. do i need to get a ballast and all that other stuff too? or is that unneccesary (totally killed the spelling)

    a ballast is a must to have the fixture even work, also with such a small tank like that have it high up above to not everheat it.

    exactly how high up? and are what does the ballast do? does it normally come with a hood?

    ballasts are what gives it light, if you dont have one it wont even light up. i would put it about 12 inches up

    ok would putting it closer to the surface and having a fan blow on the lamp/surface, give me more light? or it doesnt really matter?
