Try putting a pvc cap on it with a hole drilled in the top of it. It will regulate the airflow going in and cut down on the gurgling. The hole in the top is very important though, without it it wont work.

I have no plumbing advice but I'm sure there's a way to fix it.

I have to say I really like the thread title :)

    LOL thanks :D

Also the cap with a hole didn't work at first. Then I put a piece of airline tubing in the hole and it stopped the gurgling into a constant flow :) So you were right, I just drilled too big a hole at first. Just need to get a new cap now so I can drill a smaller hole.

You have a drilled tank, and now you are surface skimming a very small area. But it does work I'm sure.

I certainly agree with the advice on supressing the noise, and glad you seemed to have fixed it.

drewSK nailed it, you could also use 2-45's instead of 2-90's behind the tank to help with the flow or go with flex-pvc. check out bean overflow, the small pvc hole doesnt work well skimming the surface due to the small area it covers. if you want to quit the inside of the tank you could try a duruso.
