    Very nice!

Do you ever have any buildup of "junk" under the funnel?

    No none.

Oh but I dont think i mentioned this in this thread, but Im not using the end cap. Lucas pointed out, if the outlet is underwater, there is no back siphon!

I'm gathering supplies to try this - my Rx keeps clogging and I'm sick of using a box cutter to clean out the stock screen. one question though, you said you are NOT using the cap - do you mean the 3/4" PVC cap that you drilled the holes in? or is there some other cap I missed? My set-up is simialr to yours - reactor is mounted under my stand over top of the sump. It's fed by a MJ12 in my "return" section and dumps to my "skimmer" section in the area of my skimmer inlet. Ok, so for the mod, are you saying to just run the 10" PVC straight to the funnel with nothing acting as a diverter/back-flow pellet screen - type thingy? when you shut it off to service you don't get any back siphon? Just want to make sure I'm not missing something. Awesome mod BTW. Thanks for sharing!!

You are correct on both accounts. just the straight PVC, the funnel will direct the water upwards... and as long as your pump (water in) and outlet (water out) are both underwater in the same section of the sump (same water level), you will not have a back syphon.

I always turn the ball valve anyway before maintenance.

Did you get this from Michigan Reefers Shin? They have a great thread over there!
