Wouldn't that just cost even more money? (To supplement rather than a small WC)

Oh I just noticed...you are doing a 30% WC, weekly. Why so big of a WC?

Good luck supplementing every trace element, from copper to cobalt to bromine to sulfur, in a manner cheaper than buying salt, and in as reliable a proportion - especially since there's no test kit for the majority of the trace elements.

By the way, even if you figure that you're using Tropic Marin Pro-Reef (one of the most expensive salts, with price ($84.99 for 200 gallons of mix) taken from F&S), and figure 10c per gallon for RODI, with a 10 gallon WC, you're looking at $5.24 a week in water changes. Not exactly breaking the bank, IMO.

I'd be surprised if you have a supplement that includes everything that salt mix does. I'd even want to know what it's called, TBQH.

10g a week in a 31g tank is a tad less than 30%. But even more than 30% when you figure in the space taken up by rock. Probably about 35%.
