I thought mine was toast for a few weeks here, but in the last week he colored back up and is taking off.

Sorry about your loss though, that thing was awesome looking;)

Yep, so true. Mine was an Aussie and had no problems but there are no guarantees with elegance corals.

Yes you will. Sometimes even when the conditions are perfect an animal doesn't make it. :(

My experiences were opposite: I'd somehow kill the easy ones and the difficult ones would thrive. Go figure on that.

Thanks Cheryl, I am always prepared for the loss of an elegance if I do not know where it was collected. No more elegance corals except from Diver's Den and Australia for me.

    Yeah I know the feeling.

I have been sooooo tempted by some really nice looking ones at the LFS.

My first one lived for 3 years and was huge, after that I eventually killed everyone I bought so I just stopped. Ignorance is bliss sometimes with new tanks, I kept stuff alive in that tank that was so simple and I knew nothing at the time.

A lot of collection seems to take place in back reefs with periods of turbid water conditions. Plus I believe that Curt had a great point in that they do very poorly after shipping and handling.

Mna, Cheryl, now I know why you kinda warned me in a nice way to not get one. Guess I got lucky, my $10 elegance from saltcritters.com is still kicking and this week doing well. I will admit that they are very testy though, but hence a good indicator of water quality being off.
