OMG !!! my carbon did come from one of those contaminated batches :(
I am obviously upset about this. A very costly and time consuming mistake for me ......

Contact the store you bought it from and let them know what they are selling.

    Holy crap! That sucks!

Sooo, is Kent going to do anything other than replace the batch you bought?

I am looking up my receipts but I believe this was a Marine Depot order.

About 6-9 months ago I've heard of Kent replacing your losses also.

Actually, IMHO it was the LFS's / Kent's fault. Todays computer standards have them knowing exactly where their batches went, etc.

I think you can get some re-imbersement- heard of it on another thread anyways!

Just call their customer service, and MD,and be cool and see what you can do to recoup your losses. LIke water change costs, the coral, etc.

Gook luck and sorry for your losses!

I was using kent, had a big bin of it! They said my batch was not in the recall.
I quit using it anyways and chucked a bunch of it, and now buy 'Deep Blue' Carbon.
Big container- comes with a media bag in it also.

I use HydroCarbon 2 and have been happy with it so far.

Thanks, I will look into switching to 'Deep Blue ' as well. Hopefully I can recoup something for my loss.

This is why you shouldn't do any reading on vacation. I changed my gfo to seacem seagel Friday morning before I left town to add some carbon to my homemade reactor. Now I'll be a nervous wreck until I get home to my tank late Tuesday. DOAH I'm sure it's different carbon but still, changing something when I'm not around to see how it affects my tank was a dumb move. Lesson learned :/

This was a Marine Depot purchase in May 2012.
