Was that the first time you have done a 100% water change?

Yep. But this was 2 months after it started as a last ditch means.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
How about putting up an image with one of the pale corals in it, and if possible an angle that might show the cloudiness.

Pic could also be very helpful. Precipitate would manifest other symptoms. Pumps and heaters would have a yellowish precipitate on them.

Yeah those are pale. Looks like starvation, are you feeding them, you did not post N/P.

Remember when you went BB and I hinted that you might notice an issue that I had when I went without sand? That problem was IMO lack of flora and fauna and decreased coral coloration. I realize this does not happen in the majority of BB tanks, maybe smaller tanks/nanos are more prone because they do not have the capacity to hold a lot of rock which promotes bio-film, I do not know.

To rule out precipitation I would leave the Ca reactor off, if it does not clear in 4-5 days, then I would consider bacterial, carbon and water changes should take care of that, if not then try a lights off for 2 days.

When was the last time you treated for RB?

You changed back to MH right?

I do not think there has to be a long term solution, it will resolve. I have had issues last for much longer.

You alk works out to 8.7 dkh not high but Ca and mag are. Look at this link specifically the section under causes of precipitation.

If that is the issue then you can correct the chemistry.

You can feed your corals noticeable more and see if that improves the colors, if your adverse to adding sand. Worst come to worst you can add the sand. Rinse the sand well, my tank was cloudy for 2 days because I did not rinse the sand enough, no long term problems though. Corals did do better after I added the sand.

I am not big fan of Amino Acids but it might help here once the water clears.
