    Kevin,

I had used it initially when I had an Ich outbreak, and then left it online 24/7 for about 2 years, changed the bulb once. when the 180 went up, I didn't continue it. I don't 'see' a difference without it either.

If I wasn't running Zeo, I'd have UV on permanently. Tank looks good with it going.

Also I'm claiming my props for being first to this cure. is there a cookie, or a club, or something?

Shiner Bock is a good choice! Get yourself a pack.

BTW, I noticed a nasty slime coat on my sock filter today. I'm guessing that is part of the bacteria?

I'm sure it probably is, all kinds of live- to the microscopic level living in our tanks.

Tank has remained clear and is much healthier now; much.

Everything is happy and coloring up.

However, I still have a stringy bacteria showing up and a mucus bacteria showing up on my sock and sump. Snot like.

congrats on figuring out the problem! Check this out guys I found a 40w aqua uv on the side of the road in my neighborhood the other day nu ballast or bulb but for $200 it will be like brand new only problem is it would barely fit in my stand and my stand is huge..standard 120 and stand is 36" tall can pour out a 5 gallon water jug inside my stand with my 50g sump... looks like im going to rebuild it and sell to get a 57w..

    Well fiddle sticks.

This mucus and stringy bacteria are now taking hold. UV doesn't seem to effect it since it's not free floating.

Guess it's part of the cycle.

I get the same thing in my sump/sock.( Stringy slimy mucousy) I could never track down a cause untill I stumbled on a thread here. It turns out I needed to clean out my plastic top off container. Once I took it out cleaned it real good. Problem went away. It took a long time to come back and is now due to be clean again soon. Not sure of the exact cause/reason. But HTH
