anyone have experience in how to cover a tank without decreasing light?
it is for save fish to jump out.
i read that some fish like oxycirrhites and syganus vulpus ca do it.

Put light defuser (eggcrate) over the tank instead of glass. You need to keep the tank open for gas exchange (oxygen).

Any cover: egg-crate type, screen, or glass is going to block or reflect some of the light and cause more/less evaporation - you just have to choose what's best for you. If you do get a glass cover, prop it open to get some oxygen exchange at the water surface.
    Or just don't buy jumpers.

Eggcrate or screen block or diffuse some of the light and don't stop evaporation.
Glass lids completely closed and covered will block or reflect light, won't promote oxygen exchange at the water surface, but will help slow down evap.

I've even seen people using screen from screen doors over it but I'd imagine that would filter quite a bit of light. Honestly I live on the edge and go topless!!! But I did have a Lubbock's wrasse jump when I was at work and my daughter ate some of it! Wife called freaking out and all I could say is "what fish?!?"

Everyone says you have to have it open for gas exchange... but if your like me and have a sump which measures 36 x 18 is open and my fuge/frag tank which measures 36 x 12 is also open which in my opinion is more than enough gas exchange.

Plastic grid unless you can find the clear or chrome type (yes Virginia they do make it, But glass also presents a problem, with glass gets covered with salt, you have to clean it every couple of days or it also will block the light.
